Newborn Session Q&A

Frequently Asked Questions :

Q.  There seem to be a lot of photographers who say they “specialize” in newborns. Should I just look for the one with the best prices?
A. Price is always at the forefront of any consumers mind, but you have to remember the old saying, “You get what you pay for.” Going with the least expensive photographer is not a good way to determine who will take your baby’s portraits. Most often the least expensive photographer is also the least experienced photographer in Newborn Photography . You have to remember; this photographer will be handling, posing, and soothing your baby. It’s not just about taking the pictures, it’s making sure you are working with someone who a) knows how to appropriately handle & pose newborns in general, b) considers the health and safety of your baby first and c) will provide you with a beautiful final product.

Q. Why do you recommend newborns to be photographed before two weeks of age?
A. Babies older than two weeks of age are alert longer and do not fall into that deep, deep sleep.  Colic may become evident as well as baby acne after the 2 week mark.

Q. How long have you been photographing newborns?
A. Ten years.  I have a lot of experience and patience with babies. My motto is safety first.  I will never put your newborn in an unsafe pose/prop. I am also mother and I feel very comfortable with newborns.

Q. Do you have Flu Shot? What if you are not feeling well?
A. Again, my motto is always Safety 1st, Infant 1st. This is something very important to me.   I get my Flu shot and Wooping Cough Shot annually. I would never, ever be around an Infant if I have a cold or any virus. I will contact you to reschedule. I have a No Sick Policy when it comes to handeling Infants and being with New Moms. We would certainly reschedule your Session date.

Q. How do I best prepare for my Newborn Session?

A. Prior to your Infants very first photo session, I will be sending you a Guide including everything from feeding to what to wear . I will not need much assistance from mom or dad so you can relax and sit back even take a snooze . There is a comfy couch for you both to relax on.

Q. When should I book my Newborn Session?

A. Please book while you are still pregnant. Booking early helps us all . I book a limited amount of Due Dates per week (3) so I am sure to leave scheduling space open for all early and late arriving newborns 🙂 So booking ahead is always smart.   I sometimes have space open , so please do not be afraid to contact me if you feel it is too late. After baby is born, you can contact me in the first few days so we can geta firm date date with in those for 2 weeks.
